The Golden Age

The Golden Age

Everyone is becoming happier the further along the road to progressive utopianism our society travels. Of this there can be no question. Suicides have risen 30% since 1999, and will continue to do so; as liberalism expands its gentle caress, numbers like the 45,000 American suicides in 2016 will only increase, as it is those who most strongly experience progressive hedonism who take their own lives to experience la petite mort, or death-as-orgasm/orgasm-as-death in the final orgiastic release. In any case, they go to join the jihadis and their thousand year orgasms on the next plane of sensuousness and delights. For all life—and death—is only so much Epicureanism: novelty, sensation, play. On earth as it is in heaven, pleasure and righteousness are inextricable, or at least they are in the rose-colored fantasies of the privileged Left.

For the eternal play-time to continue, however, the punishments for the heresies of empiricism must grow more severe by the day. As Dr. Andrew Joyce writes:

[In the UK] for every pork-inspired teenage prank, there were probably a couple of Muslim rapes being carried out at the same time. I know which crime I view most seriously. Even looking at the picture from a racial rather than religious viewpoint, the figures of the Crown Prosecution Service show that Whites are under-represented in rape convictions relative to their proportion in the population, whereas Blacks, ‘Asians’ (the label most often applied to Pakistanis, etc.), and those of mixed ethnicity all far exceeded their proportion of the population. So the media prefers the false alarm over hate crime to the real alarm which needs to be sounded over the ethnic rape epidemic.[1]

This cannot happen, however, because to do so would be to admit that not just the policies of the Left have failed terribly—and are getting people raped, maimed, traumatized, and killed in the millions—but that their entire worldview has been invalidated. To ideologues such as these, that is a fate worse than death, and that reality, coupled with their cowardice, makes them very dangerous. For those behind the curtain so to speak, they certainly do not believe these outrageous fictions of equality, but find them useful to further their own agenda. Whether it be the #MeToo hysteria and feminism’s “impossible burden” of proof—a burden shared by all Cultural Marxist schools of “thought”—or cries of police wantonly gunning-down inner-city blacks (the same blacks that are four-and-a-half times more likely to kill a police officer than a white person is), these narratives do not need to be factually-based to be effective. They are used for one purpose only—to target and destroy opponents, whether on the individual or the group level. Empiricism and the logos itself are anathema to the Left for both purposes of the will-to-power and for the religious zealotry of many of its “true believers.”

Let’s look closely at another example. Consider “food deserts.” The idea is that the impoverished are not able to access healthy food, and that explains their obesity, but I can tell you from firsthand experience, if you’re basically scraping by, you’re not able to eat such volume, healthy or otherwise. Besides, tins of tuna or sardines are not expensive in the slightest and they are packed with protein and healthy Omega-3 fatty acids. These people are not starving, they’re just making poor choices, but of course the cost—moral, financial, having an actual country—is shifted on to us despite the fact that the very idea of democracy relies on each citizen having agency. So if these people have no self-control, if they lack agency, then why do they have the franchise? Is that not self-awareness a prerequisite of agency? Further, the question is never asked why, exactly, it is only *certain communities* that are “food deserts” in the first place. Could it have anything to do with the fact that these are crime-infested charnel houses with zero social capital, and any positive investments in the community are torched in the inevitable race riot?

On a related note, the United States does not have a gun problem, by the way. The firearm homicide rate in the US seems very high for a developed nation, but that’s until you look under (in?) the hood. The firearm homicide rate for white Americans is 1.7 per 100,000, which is identical to the Czech Republic and lower than countries like Canada, France, and Austria. The firearm homicide rate for Hispanics in the United States is 6.4 per 100,000, or nearly four times that of white Americans. The firearm homicide rate for blacks in the US is 19.8 per 100,000, or eleven-and-a-half times that of whites. This is very obviously not a gun problem, but a people problem, and a black and brown people problem at that. We are very clearly way beyond the bounds of rationality when we interrogate even the most basic premises of Leftism. The “logic” is self-negating and relies entirely on superstition and fantasy—with the iron fist of the ochlocratic mob, the state Leviathan, and the mega-multi-nationals to silence all legitimate lines of questioning and to crush all reasonable objections, indeed, to utterly destroy any who dare try and resist the #Resistance.

Furthermore, while Christianity appears to have been taken hostage by the “social gospel,” we must always remember that this was the original version of Christianity. It was not the faith of world-conquerors, but of slaves. Only in the late Roman Empire, after Caracalla had extended citizenship to all freemen in the Empire’s confines and after the founding families had all stopped breeding and died off did Christianity become the state religion. It was only after Christianity had been modified from its original form from its fusion with local customs and pagan rites (think of shrines to the Saints with burnt candles and other offerings, or of prayer to the Saints as intermediaries between Man and God, or else of the Celtic tradition of Samhain followed the next day by All Saints’ Day—these are but three small examples) and more importantly was imbued by the essence of those peoples that it became acceptable to Europeans. In short, Christianity had been made to adapt to Europeans, not the other way around. Only in the modern world has it become a universalist religion again, and we must reject this form of Christianity for it will surely mean our oblivion. That is to say that the uniqueness of Western civilization stems from the fact that it is at once more egalitarian in its orientation than any other in terms of what we might call “rights,” especially as it pertains to women (while simultaneously granting women a special status as pristine beings in need of protection from all that is harmful and foul), and in its emphasis on merit, but also more aristocratic, for its people—when unencumbered by alien ideas that warp this egalitarian impulse into something communistic and/or pathologically altruistic—are the primary drivers of innovation, creativity, and beauty on this earth.

We are the ones who first planted a flag on Luna, and if humanity is to transcend its present constraints, it is we who will subdue the heavens. This cannot happen if we are weighted down with a religion that enervates the undifferentiated mass, the ignorant flock in need of shepherding, or of an ideology that treats men and women as interchangeable yet in perpetual opposition. This could not be further from the truth, for we are meant to be complementary, but a system that abuses our notions of chivalry with this equality-with-an-asterisk sows resentment and destroys empathy for women, especially as they are conditioned to incapacitate themselves with drugs and alcohol but are absolved of any consequences as a result of their actions. In the #MeToo era, the sheer volume of false rape accusations as well as the conflation of rape with unwanted advances or even simply regret is generating a population of men who are indifferent to the sufferings of women at the hand of legitimate predators, many of whom have been imported from alien cultures that regard women as absolute inferiors and often chattel.

Now all of this is not to say that Christianity should be discarded, for a society that believes in nothing quickly grows nihilistic and decadent before its demise. As Polybius wrote in his Histories:

For I conceive that what in other nations is looked upon as a reproach, I mean a scrupulous fear of the gods, is the very thing which keeps the Roman commonwealth together. To such an extraordinary height is this carried among them, both in private and public business, that nothing could exceed it. Many people might think this unaccountable; but in my opinion their object is to use it as a check upon the common people. If it were possible to form a state wholly of philosophers, such a custom would perhaps be unnecessary. But seeing that every multitude is fickle, and full of lawless desires, unreasoning anger, and violent passion, the only resource is to keep them in check by mysterious terrors and scenic effects of this sort. Wherefore, to my mind, the ancients were not acting without purpose or at random, when they brought in among the vulgar those opinions about the gods, and the belief in the punishments in Hades: much rather do I think that men nowadays are acting rashly and foolishly in rejecting them.[2]

In this yawning spiritual void, to quote Douglas Murray, “some of the absolute bases of Western civilization were…offered up for negotiation… Europe lost faith in its beliefs, traditions, and legitimacy.” In their stead came the false doctrines of democracy and equality—the same doctrines, though in secular form, that powered the pre-European-infused iteration of Christianity. “Global uplift” becomes the suicidal rallying cry; democracy on a global scale can only turn ochlocratic for the global minority that is the white race. The feverish modern delusions of “democracy” are nothing but the veneration of the masses; in this way it is no different from communism. In practical terms, there is no difference between the kleptocratic conditions of communism and ruthlessly exploitative capitalism. The vectors of control are the same, too.

In any case, the notion of Nietzsche’s Übermensch is at once a terrific conceptual response to the existential challenges of the aforementioned frictionless lifestyle, and yet, from the Prologue of Thus Spoke Zarathustra, the Übermensch shall be the meaning of the earth! I beseech you, my brothers, remain faithful to the earth, and do not believe those who speak to you of otherworldly hopes!” Nietzsche believed that high culture could fill the God-sized hole of Western civilization, and the closest anyone came to “playing God,” as it were, in this respect was Richard Wagner (this concept is alluded to in the brilliant Alien: Covenant, with its dual-edged sub-text of both Wagner’s philosophy of an all-encompassing high-cultural aesthetics and a Nazi-esque preoccupation with aesthetics and eugenics personified by the android David—witness the recurrence of Wagner’s Entry of the Gods Into Valhalla as the android David, “the creator,” enters the embryo room; alternatively, the film could be read as David-as-Jew, ushering in a new era of freakish amalgams and dysgenic and violent “neomorphs”). The ramifications of Nietzschean philosophy cannot be understated, as Lesley Chamberlain outlines:

He might just as well simultaneously have declared “reason” dead. Indeed, he did just that. For reason, in the idealist context, was not just some capacity of mind to prove propositions about experience true; it was, for Hegel, a supernatural force out there, moving the world towards progress. Nietzsche’s rebellion was a way of saying that no great metaphysical forces governed human life and created a framework for meaning, every individual faced the possibly absurdity of existence alone… So, “God is dead,” which means “Reason” with a capital R, the force out there that made possible the philosophy of Plato, of the intertwining of Reason and divinity throughout mainstream Christianity and western philosophy, cannot be used to explain the nature of “man.” But that means that man, too, is dead. In fact, the most serious outcome of Nietzsche’s death of God is the death of man, or mankind, as one entity, defined by rational capacity and slotted into a vision of “rational” progress.[3]

I must beg to differ with Chamberlain here as Nietzsche was not presaging the death of Reason and Man entirely, but a certain kind of death, one which, paradoxically, must have a resurrection—a Renaissance if you like—in order for Man to transcend its present limitations onto a higher plane of existence. This has, as of yet, not happened, as we are presently in the death throes of the old order. It should be no coincidence, then, that Europe’s blood pours from the Germany-sized wounds in its slit-wrists.

Not all suicide attempts end in death, however. We’ve been headed down this particular road for a long time, but faith need not be a concession to bovine, unthinking submission. It can be, as seen in Ephesians 6:11-13, folded into a conception of both the Übermensch and Kierkegaard’s Pursuer of Difficulties that straddles this realm and the next (and it need not be literal—consider ideas such as “legacy” and “posterity”):

Put on the full armor of God, so that you can make your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this world’s darkness, and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore take up the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you will be able to stand your ground.

We can also see, via Chamberlain, that progress in the Progressive sense is foundationally based on irrationality, but it also does much to illuminate the inherent contradiction in the image of a harmonious utopia of man on this terrestrial plane. Their philosophy is untenable, so as they continue to try and implement this ideal on the continent and across the West, the privileged classes either dismiss or simply do not comprehend the fundamental illogic of the undertaking, made more grotesque and terrible by their rigid adherence to an emphasis on the collective identities of the Other despite a preponderance of evidence at the group level that said groups are not exactly model citizens, let alone the next batch of Shakespeare’s and Copernicus’s and Voltaire’s. It is, finally, the centrality of logos in Western civilization that has ultimately been supplanted by effete and unthinking pathos. To quote Richard M. Weaver, “We are looking for a place where a successful stand may be made for the logos against modern barbarism.” This is it.

“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.”-Matthew 10:34
